We all turned to look at the wolf, who was now coughing up
large amounts of blood.

Chapter 8 (Part 2)
“Whatever happens, do not go outside the barrier,” I
whispered to Rascielle who simply collapsed to her knees in fear. She didn’t
even seem to comprehend what I just said but she nodded in cold sweat anyway.

Chapter 8 (Part 1)
“What is that?” I jolted the horse to a sudden stop then whirled my head to look behind us but the ominous presence I felt vanished.
“Did you guys feel that?”
Chapter 7 (part 2)
The sun was setting down fast and we couldn’t ride for much
longer so we set up camp. We were headed north towards the river I like to call
“The River with a lot of Nicknames”. I think it’s the only river in the world
with so many names. It’s been called the River of Life, Mother River, Main
River, The Big River, The Vein of the Continent and a whole lot more but its
proper name is Barquiz River. There’s only one reason to blame for that: poets.
Poets like to describe that river and everything under the sun (sun included)
for that matter, in their unique, poetic, long winded fashion and then spread
it around like a plague. The people who contract this plague then know the
river in that poetic way too and treat it like it’s the river’s real name.
Poets and their tangled sense of language –
they make this simple world sound painful and complicated.

Chapter 7 (Part 1)
When we got out of the city, my two mysterious, still hooded
employers greeted us. But this time, I could clearly see their faces under
their hoods. The bigger guy with the deep voice looked exactly like how I imagined
him. He was tall, dark skinned, muscular, bald and wore a very stern expression
like your average hoodlum. He also had this intimidating aura around him that
made you feel like he was born a leader or a leader of a gang. But of course,
although I could feel the aura he was exuding, it could not move me in the
slightest. I’m pretty hard to impress.

Chapter 6 (part 2) - End of tournament arc
The upgraded Dragon Slayer now stood across from me. His eyes
were pure white as if his pupils disappeared or his iris lightened which either
way felt inhuman. And all that came out of his mouth were unintelligible noises,
growls and froth. The combined effect of these characteristics made him look
like he lost all reason, like a wild, rabies infected dog. His body was
terribly deformed with very large muscles. His skin even took the color of his
presumed mood – an angry red.

Chapter 6 (part 1)
“Chryisle wait. We’re being rude to the next contestants,”
Noirxus said in an attempt to rein my temper. “Shouldn’t we let them go first?”
I looked at Noirxus with the most piercing glare I could
muster. “Where are your so called next contestants? Hurry and point them out so
I can kill them.”

Chapter 5 (Part 2)
An ordinary person could only see the first strike
then the rest would be blurry movements accompanied by the sound of metal
clashing against each other. Debris was flying everywhere and people would be
scrambling for safety here and there. Most of the audience (or what’s left of
them) would slide across the bleachers as they dodge the large boulders but
then they would eventually get stuck between a rock and a hard place – literally. The reason why the tournament wasn't completely desolate yet was because people were torn between fleeing for their lives and not missing the epic fight. In short it was chaotic.
Chapter 5 (part 1)
“I packed everything and bought everything
necessary,” Noirxus said in a tired voice. “You really know how to
use people Chryisle. When I returned with the supplies I found you already
comfortably sleeping on the bed while I was up all night worrying about
preparations because of your haphazard decision.”

Chapter 4 (part 3)
I didn’t want to stay in the tournament
after my fight but Noirxus thought otherwise. He said it would be a valuable
learning experience to look at other’s fights so I left him there. I eventually
became bored so I went out and planned our next course of action after I win
the prize for the tournament. I decided to take on a real mercenary job.
Chapter 4 (part 2)
Watching my future opponents is a big waste of time and energy. Besides I want to be surprised when I fight them. So I proceeded to
do what I usually do before my fight: sleep.
After a while, I felt a slight nudge on my arm. I guess that means
it’s my time to shine. I got up and walked a few steps towards the stage, but then I paused suddenly feeling hesitant.

Chapter 4 (Part 1)
Noirxus
had to go first in the second elimination round. I brought a couple of earplugs
just in case which came in handy as soon as his name was announced by the
emcee.

Chapter 3 (part 3)
No matter how much I want to kill a man, I will never use a sword against a drunk. Yeah, that’s how good a person I am. So as a safe alternative to blades, I’ll pummel him with my fist instead.

Chapter 3 (part 2)
It was dusk.
Both Noirxus and I (actually just me) are having trouble finding a good place to spar in. The town didn’t have any open areas where we could destroy the place in peace because I assure you, after we’re done sparring, the area will look like it’s been passed by a very selective storm. We can’t go outside because the town gates close at night which would lock us out.
